About Durham Cricket Club

Durham County Cricket Club, now rebranded as Durham Cricket, is one of the eighteen first-class county clubs in the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Durham.

The club has a rich history that dates back to its establishment on May 23, 1882. Their first match was played at Chester Road cricket ground in Sunderland on June 12, 1882, where they defeated Northumberland by 4 wickets.

Over the years, Durham Cricket Club has achieved several notable milestones. They were the first Minor County team to defeat a first-class team when they shocked Geoffrey Boycott's Yorkshire at Harrogate. They reached first-class status in 1992 and have won various major trophies, including the County Championship title.

Home Ground

The club's main home ground is the Emirates Riverside Stadium, located in Chester-le-Street, County Durham. The stadium has a capacity of around 15,000 spectators.

County Championship Success

Since gaining first-class status in 1992, Durham Cricket Club has won the County Championship three times. They had a dominant run from 2008 to 2013, winning the title in 2008, 2009, and 2013.

Limited-Overs Success

Durham has also achieved success in limited-overs cricket. They have won the domestic T20 tournament, known as the Vitality Blast, on two occasions, in 2008 and 2014.

International Matches
